Short Weekend Equals Lethargy

This weekend doesn't really feel like a weekend.  It's been a long month.  We've had two replacement schooldays; one earlier this month and the other one today.  Aside from that, we're still having the usual mundane co-curricular activities every Wednesday.  We've also had in-house courses, afternoon meetings which last till evening.  To top it all off, we're having yet another school-plus-society activity next week.  And people still don't understand why teachers cannot concentrate on teaching their students!

All those highlights aside, let's just concentrate on why the two-day weekend that all of us (whatever our occupations) deserve.  The two days is for our bodies to recuperate from the week of work.  The standard working hours that each occupation has been allocated to has been truly well-defined and adjusted to fit the occupations.  So, whatever your job is, two days is just enough for you to gain back that energy to start another unforgiving week!

Saturdays and Sundays are also for you and your family to catch up with whatever family things you did not manage to do during your working week; especially when both spouses work.  This is the time for dads to bond with the kids, for mums to prepare long lunches or dinners and for families to enjoy the food and the company.

Last but not least, these two days are days when you can visit your loved ones, like your relatives, your moms and dads, grandparents; in short extended families.  When you work a six-day week with all the extra activities and meetings in between, you will feel lethargy creeping in and the last thing you want to do is to start the engine and drive miles to meet up with relatives.

I can go on with all the reasons in the world why we should retain and maintain the two-day weekend, but I'm too tired!

After Two Years.....

Can't believe that I have been too busy to write that I have actually left this blog untouched for two long years.  A lot of thing...
