A Birthday Two Days Late

Star Q

Image sourced from Google

Your birthday only comes once a year (if you are lucky!) but there can many things that can distract you from celebrating it.  By celebrating, I don't mean that it should be done in a big way; with a lavish dinner, a wild party, a battalion of friends (or whom you think are friends) and tonnes of presents (mostly things you don't need)!  In fact, a birthday celebration can be very laid-back with only your immediately family members rejoicing in the happiness.

Of Paddy and Coconut Husks

Star Q

Image sourced from Google

I read with interest the news about the proverbial paddy and coconut husks uttered by a well-respected person and which incidentally, has got almost every body jumping into the bandwagon and giving their two cents worth of brouhaha.  Many seem to oppose, however there are many though who seem to agree with the statement made.

When's The Next Holidays?

Star Q

All too soon, the extended Lunar New Year holidays will be over!  What should have been a week holiday, actually feels like a two-day holiday.  I tend to minus the two Saturdays and Sundays because I feel that they should not be regarded as part of the holidays.  Even without Lunar New Year, you still get the Saturday (if you are lucky enough to have a boss who allows you to take the Saturday off as an off day!) and Sunday off.

Star Q

Veteran actor Kuswadinata dies - Nation | The Star Online

It's not very often that I write about the passing of a local entertainment personality (or overseas one for that matter!) but I suddenly feel like I have to write something if only to immortalize him in this humble blog of mine.

Bad Drivers and Drivers' Watchers

Star Q

Sikap buruk pemandu

I read with much interest the article which appeared in Utusan Malaysia dated 11th February 2013.  There is a lot of truth in what was mentioned by the writer as all of us also see what he sees almost every day when we are driving.  I, however have a different perspective with regards to these drivers' bad behaviours on the road.  M  y view is on the impression that these drivers have on the young occupants of their vehicles namely their children.

From the Home to the School

Star Q

The Malay Mail -6/02/13

I never thought that we would actually need a school or any kind of institution to teach us good manners!  But apparently the news stated the need for such an educational institution with such urgency.

I have always felt that any kind of good manners or behavior should be taught from young; meaning that learning all these good values should begin at home, with the parents playing a prominent role.  After all, it is easier to instill good values in young children at the tender age of, say as early as two years rather than wait for them to reach the age of twenty (when they would already have their own perception of what they deem to be good or bad behavior!)

The Horse and The Water

Star Q

I have always heard about teachers telling tales about how difficult it is to teach a group of students who just refuse to learn.  I have always thought that such a thing would never happen to me and even when it did, I would be able to handle it to the best of my ability.

Validating Valentine

Star Q

PAS to go on campaign to discourage Muslims from celebrating Valentine’s Day - Nation | The Star Online

It is the same campaign every year where you will find people who say that we should not celebrate Valentine's Day.  There is nothing wrong with other religions celebrating Valentine's Day; it only applies to Muslims.  I may not be very knowledgeable religiously, hence I will only give my personal view on this matter without being judgmental to others.

After Two Years.....

Can't believe that I have been too busy to write that I have actually left this blog untouched for two long years.  A lot of thing...
