Star Q
ii. Cool Air At Last
This is a picture of a class on a regular school day at 9.00 in the morning. It is an exam week and the paper at the time this picture was taken was Chinese and Tamil which ends at 9.40. The following paper, which was Chemistry, was at 10.00 a.m.
What is so striking about this picture is, even though a majority of the students were in class, quite a few of them were not. Not least because they did not take the two papers mentioned earlier since almost all the Malay girls (plus one boy!) were in class. The problem is, what happened to the rest of the Malay boys?
I got to thinking and I assumed they would be coming right before the paper they would be sitting for, that is Chemistry, started. But the bigger question is, shouldn't they be in class, along with the other Malay girls (and one boy!) who were not taking the Chinese and Tamil papers? This is, after all, a school isn't it?
As far as I am concerned, not being in class during a paper you are not taking only happens in universities or colleges; this most definitely does not happen in school. Perhaps these boys are having an early practice at being under grads so that they will be more familiar when they enter universities.
Well, with this sort of attitude, I wish you all a load of luck; because I know you need it!
