Lend Me Your Ears

Star Q

We always get irritated when people younger than us (or just anyone, really!) do not pay attention to what we are saying.  Not only that, they ignore us by talking to their friends (about things that are obviously more interesting to them!) or attend to other matters (like playing video games or texting using their cellphones!)  Suffice to say that we would blow our top and bombard these people with angry words!

If we can feel anger when people do not listen to us when we are talking, let us just ponder upon the same situation when we ourselves do not listen to someone else who is giving a talk.  Okay, let's not beat around the bush then!  Let's say you are in a meeting, and the chairperson is addressing the meeting by giving his opening speech.  And, there you are, at the back of the meeting room, gossiping like a group of gibberish gibbons!

Not only are you not listening to what the chairperson is saying, you and your group are in fact disturbing the other members from listening.  In the end, every tend to lose because not everybody gets what the chairperson is trying to say.  And the chairperson has wasted all his effort (with his power-point display including charts and graphs!) and energy (talking and explaining!)

These people who just cannot keep quiet when other people are listening during a meeting, should be reprimanded and stern action should be taken against them.  Better still, let them do the presenting during the next meeting, and see how they like it when everyone else ignores them and pretend that they don't exist!

After Two Years.....

Can't believe that I have been too busy to write that I have actually left this blog untouched for two long years.  A lot of thing...
