Free Education At One's Own Free Will

Star Q

Every child deserves an education

I read this article today and felt compelled to note that many of these children do not go to school because their parents cannot afford to put them through school.

There is no such problem here in this country because no matter how poor you are, the government finds a way to ensure that children as early as seven years old are given the opportunity to go to school; for free!  What's more, if the parents put in a little bit of effort, everything that the children need to go to school, like bags, clothes and shoes, will also be given free.  To top it all off they even get free textbooks.

With all these freebies given to unfortunate children, it is even more unfortunate to note that children here do not go to school to learn (not all of them!)  They go to school mostly to meet up with their friends or to get away from doing house chores!  With no intention of doing any kind of learning when they are in school, these children end up becoming a thorn in the school's administration and teacher's side.

They create discipline problems like coming late to school, not entering classes, bullying, playing with their cellphones (another situation that needs to be addressed) and making noises when the teacher is teaching and others are trying to learn; just to name a few (yes, there's more!)

I often ponder as to when are these children ever going to learn the importance of learning.  I guess, if this trend continues, they probably never will.

After Two Years.....

Can't believe that I have been too busy to write that I have actually left this blog untouched for two long years.  A lot of thing...
