Being a part of a social network definitely has its advantages. But then again, who can deny the disadvantages it brings. Much have been said in the electronic and printed media about the shortcomings of social networks which is mainly due to the lackadaisical attitudes of its users. Some users are so forthcoming with their feelings and emotions that they become victims to people who want to take advantage of them.
It is also undeniable that a large number of social network users favor using pseudonyms supposedly to hide their real identities. Not only that, they even go to the extent of using other people's pictures in place of their own. Pseudonyms and false photos paint a more convincing picture to other users who want to befriend them. These people have no qualms about deceiving other people and hence, it is no surprise when they too are deceived by others.
Some users even give false information about the place where they once studied, always opting to mention illustrious higher institute of education, often located in western or European countries. It seems there is no limit to giving deceptive information when some even falsify their place of birth, where local users 'choose' to be born in far flung countries like England and Korea.
Finally and most importantly, the status that users put on their walls are less than informative. In any case they don't have any thoughtful values that can bring any sort of benefit to their social network friends. Their status often contain one word comments, onomatopoeic slangs and jargons and worse of all, they are full of vulgar words. All these from people we consider to be our future leaders! Sigh!
In my opinion (and it is strictly my personal opinion!) these people should really consider to remove themselves from any known social network; in short deactivate! Now!
