Every Little Help Counts

I have read in personal amusement in the papers lately about the many dissatisfaction expressed by some parents across the nation about the RM100 which was given to all school going children before the long holidays last year.  I say amused because even after being told countless number of times through the electronic and printed media that that sum of money was merely to help out with their children's school expenditures, these parents still expressed their grouses.

I mean, let's face it, even without the RM100 aid given to us, parents previously (that's counting many, many years!) have managed to pull through by putting aside a small sum of money every month in order to put our children through education.  We scrimped here and there and we never went overboard with our spending just to make sure that our children have all the necessary things they need to go to school.  And to our own satisfaction, we can say that, even without any financial aid given to us by the powers that be, our children have become successful in their own right.

So, why is it now, when we are given this money as an aid to lighten our burden come the new school year,  we complain that RM100 is nothing compared to, say, the RM400 or RM500 that we may spend to send a child to school.  These parents should at least realize that now their RM400 - RM500 budget will be reduced to RM300 - RM400, because the real purpose of that financial aid is not to take over your financial burden but to lighten it!

I guess when it comes to money, people (some, anyway!) will never be satisfied, no matter how much you give them.  They say, money is the root of all evil and I guess, dissatisfaction can be considered evil indeed.
