Eventually it will come to this. From anger and disgust, the whole unwarranted thing about this national striker smoking during dinner has blown out of proportion into gossip-mongering and lies.As usual a small group in the public will come up with lies which they think are mere jokes and something to be laughed at and forgotten.
Unfortunately when you create defamatory statements and pictures about people and then post them in the social media, the lies become immortalised in the virtual world and millions of people will see them; some will even believe them. You may think of putting the pictures in the virtual world for a short time, but worse can happen if other people copy those pictures and unwittingly help you to circulate the picture!
Such is the sad case of this national striker. I can only hope that he brushes this idle gossip and vicious lie and not retaliate by making another angry comment in his social media which could perhaps be what the person who started the slander wanted in the first place. You are a much better man than that, so don't give the insignificant person the satisfaction of getting his glory in the virtual world.
Also don't give him the satisfaction of accusing you of not being sporting enough to take his lies and jokes. Just take it with a pinch of salt and be contented in the knowledge that every lie and slander he makes about you, only benefits you because all his pahala for the day goes to you. Having said that everyone else who follows suit after this defamer will also be giving their daily pahala to you (if they have any to give in the first place!)
And above all, God will hold it against these people who slander you. God will only forgive these people when you personally forgive them; and that opportunity for them to actually meet you, the person whom they have wronged, face to face, to apologise, is very difficult to come by.
