Be Angry Correctly!

Star Q

We cannot ignore the fact that there has been numerous attacks on Islam in this country through the social media of late.  We also cannot ignore that these people who make these attacks are ignorant themselves.  But being ignorant about someone else's religion does not guarantee a person a safe passport to say and do whatever that person likes.

When I mull over the happenings that have been going on these past few months (since forever actually!)  I feel as if these people who ridicule Islam may have some kind of dissatisfaction towards the Muslims.  However, what bothers me most is, these dissatisfied people are in reality, not angry towards Islam as a religion per se.  Instead, I fear, they are angry at the people (who happen to embrace Islam as a religion)

I can understand and acknowledge these people's dissatisfactions and I can also relate to their helplessness (though I am not in a position to do anything about it)  of not being able to express their rights as people.  But my mission is not to ponder on the needs (and wants, in some cases!) of these fellow citizens but instead, to look at the lambasting of Islam as a means to get across a message and to release those pent up emotions.

I feel the actions that have been taken to ridicule and desecrate Islam is unfair towards the religion itself that only teaches its followers to do good, just as any other religion does.  Therefore I feel, any grouses, dissatisfactions and misunderstandings should be directed at the people per se, and not the religion they follow.  Because when you desecrate a religion, your aim to target (and emotionally hurt) the specific people that have been causing your heart aches and pains will be off course.  Instead, you will also hurt all those other people who have not done any harm to you; you hurt childhood friends whom you have been close to since forever; you hurt colleagues at work places who have known each other's families since day one.  In short you hurt friends who are really friends!

So, on that note, be specific about what you do and whom you really want to reach; in whatever form that may be.  Perhaps it is even relevant to turn to your religion and see all the good it has to offer before you go out in your quest to disseminate your brand of justice.  And if religion doesn't work for you, then don't attack the religion that works for other people.  Don't be angry at the religion.  Be angry at the people who made you angry.
