Star Q
Everyone in this particular school was shocked with the news this morning! The roof on top of a classroom was blown away by winds during the storm last night. The planks attached to the roof pierced part of the roof of the Computer Laboratory.
Some people reacted to this tragedy by relating to what one of their colleagues said yesterday during their meeting. The particular teacher complained and whined about the condition of classes, with emphasis on this one specific class. The teacher said apart from having a non-conducive environment for teaching and learning, he more than once complained that the class was hot especially in the weather we have been having of late.
These people related this tragedy in response to the teacher's complaints. It could be a coincidence that the heavy rain storm happened mere hours after the teacher's outburst during the meeting. But many of the teachers in that school saw it as the Almighty's way of showing that there is no greater power than His. It can also be considered as a reminder to us so that we can use our minds to evaluate among two situations.
In this case we should take some time to ponder the circumstances. The situation before the storm, when even though it was hot, teaching and learning process could take place and students had a place to call a class (although that particular teacher stresses that most of the students in that class do not come to school to learn!)
And then there is the situation after the storm, where students now have no room to call their own class, the electric circuit for the entire block is out of order (causing inconvenience to students in other classes as well!), damaged furniture due to exposure to rain and worse still, the damage caused to the Computer Lab's roof (among others) plus the thousands of Ringgit which now has to be spent to rectify all these situations; money which could have been used to install more fans and plant more trees to alleviate the (hot) situation.
So, a short reminder. Loose lips sink ships! Be careful of what you say. In this case, hot would have been better!
