Star Q
The event was the distribution of the RM100 to all students of this particular school and parents were also invited to attend. Present at the event was the town's political representative. This alone necessitated the playing of the National Anthem which meant everyone had to sing along; just sing. Whether or not they really meant it, was a different story altogether.
It was patriotic goose bumps all around when almost everyone in the hall (almost!) sang the anthem; children especially. Just disregard those who did not stand straight to attention, or some who were looking left and right or some who were even merely miming. At least they made the effort to acknowledge that they are the citizens of this beloved country and that this country is theirs!
It was evident that some of the people present on that day did not come to sing the National Anthem or to acknowledge this great country! They only wanted what this country was going to give them and that was the RM100; nothing else! They only wanted to get the money quickly and get out of the hall to pursue other things deemed more important to them; and singing the Negara Ku was definitely out of the question!
It is a sad thing to see that parents themselves to not make any attempt to show any kind of good example to their children, like in the singing of the Negara Ku, the National Anthem of their own country. How then do these parents (picture above purely a random choice from my collection) expect the teachers of the school to educate their children when they themselves are setting bad examples.
I sometimes think that these people do not regard this country as theirs; a country that they love, but merely as a place for them to reap as much benefits for themselves.
