SISC As I See It

Star Q

I have nothing against programmes and blueprints the government wants to come up with and then amidst chaos and reluctance from the community, all these things are thrown onto our faces expecting the best of results when they know full well that what they want us to do have not had a trial run yet.

Blueprints or whatever colored prints the government wishes to come up with,  I always hope and pray that they (I use they to represent the government because there are too many people who seem to think they need to dip their pudgy little hands or wiry fingers into the programmes) stay consistent to their focus and do not at the spur of a moment change things according to their fancy!

But this government has not been consistent especially where education is concerned, especially in this case with respect to the SISC+ (School Improvement Specialist Coaches Plus!) a majority of whom were appointed since January last year, amidst the promises of better prospects with regards to salary and grades.

Two years have now sadly passed and none of the promises made by the government, the Education Ministry in particular, have any prospect of coming true.  The job specifications originally outlined for them have now been meddled with and have now had some add-ons (and they are increasing by the day)  The responsibilities given to them to target only to help improve teachers' teaching performance have now broadened to include students, schools and their administrations.

And the straw that will break the camel's back is the government's decision to bring in 300 trained teachers as SISC+ to Malaysia.  After all the hard work done by the local SISC+, they will now be sidelined by these newcomers, whom we suspect are not specialist teachers, and worse still, with less than twenty years of teaching experience.  It is atrociously unfair to appoint foreign second language speakers to teach second language  here, because our local teachers and SISC+ already fulfil that position.  One would think the government would take measures to rectify the problems affecting the current SISC+ before taking in new ones, from India no less.

But like I mentioned, our government is famous for being inconsistent in what they do and is also notorious for changing things at the spur of the moment without (really) considering the repercussions, especially where educations is concerned.

Promises and words have no value to them.  That is why either can easily be broken.

After Two Years.....

Can't believe that I have been too busy to write that I have actually left this blog untouched for two long years.  A lot of thing...
