Sore Winners

Star Q

I'm sure everyone of us have heard of sore losers; they are the people who lose in competitions, for example, and either go about telling people that the winning team had cheated, or if using sports equipments, they were probably faulty or inferior or the referee was unfair.  In short, every thing went wrong during the competitions and had caused them to lose.  Those are the sore losers, but have you ever heard of sore winners?

First and foremost, I have never seen a more pathetic case of sore winners than in this country (mind you, not all, but specifically the most recent one!)  You would think that the winning team would be very grateful of their victory and would be praising all the elements which enabled them to win.

Not here.  In a recent competition which saw two teams pitting every thing had to win the coveted title of something-something, this particular team emerged champion.  But instead of going home happy and contented, they (and their supporters) started lambasting the losing team.  Accusations like the losing team was not only not good enough but was not their match and that they lost because they played purely for material gratifications.

And as if that was not enough, attacks by the victors and their supporters got more personal when they emotionally attacked particular players of the losing team.  The straw that broke the camel's back was when they even, without fear or second-thoughts, attacked the people responsible for either morally or financially supporting the team.

I know it is a sensational feeling to win and it always makes a person feel bigger.  But it makes a person even bigger when the winner learns to be contented with his victory; and it doesn't hurt  to have a bit of humility either.  And in all fairness, their victory was not only due their expertise in the game, it was also God's will that they won!
