Just Because She's Sheila

I guess it is just human nature to express ones feelings about their disappointments.  There's just no right or wrong about it because everyone of us is entitled to our own opinions.  As long as we don't cause any damage or social uproar in expressing our feelings, then it is everybody's game.

Having said that, I feel it was really the right of this much respected local jazz singer when she expressed her concerns and also her disappointments about what is going on in the country today.  A genuine concern which she was sincerely expressing, in some sense on behalf of the rest of the rakyat of Malaysia whose voices have thus far have not been heard.

It is sad however, when all her concerns were dismissed and in some ways ridiculed by the very people who are supposed to oil and lubricate all the gears in the administrative machinery which should ensure the smooth running of this country in every aspect.

I guess by admonishing her concerns, these people are sending a clear signal to the rest of the public who are not Sheila Majid, that no matter how famous or respected you are in the public eye, your opinions are worth nothing compared to theirs.

And I guess it is easier to dismiss and ridicule a concern made by a rakyat than finding out ways and solutions to address these concerns.
