The Right to Write Part II

Blogging seems to be catching up like wild fire nowadays.  There seems to be blogs of every kind written for every single purpose by every kind of person.  That should be a good thing if you look at it positively, for example young people, students especially will now have a fun way to practice their writing skills and enhance their command of vocabulary in the process of conveying their opinions.

Good-bye FB and BF

Being a part of a social network definitely has its advantages.  But then again, who can deny the disadvantages it brings.   Much have been said in the electronic and printed media about the shortcomings of social networks which is mainly due to the lackadaisical attitudes of its users.  Some users are so forthcoming with their feelings and emotions that they become victims to people who want to take advantage of them.

It is also undeniable that a large number of social network users favor using pseudonyms supposedly to hide their real identities.  Not only that, they even go to the extent of using other people's pictures in place of their own.  Pseudonyms and false photos paint a more convincing picture to other users who want to befriend them.  These people have no qualms about deceiving other people and hence, it is no surprise when they too are deceived by others.

The Undeserving Deserves More Part II

I have written about this malady earlier in the week after waiting many months to express my distaste as to how the netbooks, given free by the government to the lower income group among the citizens, have been mishandled by untrusworthy individuals.  I stress once again; these individuals who have been entrusted by their superiors to justly distribute to school students according to specific criteria, the most important one states that the recipient of the netbook must, I stress, must be from the lower income group, have indeed broken that trust!

The Undeserving Deserves More

I look in amazement at all the students who were given the 1Malaysia Netbooks, presumably chosen based on their family income.  I was made to understand that the total income of a particular family should not be more than RM3000 to entitle them to be considered for the netbooks.  Again, the governments criteria for choosing really deserving students looks very plausible and worthy students will definitely benefit from the government's generosity.

However, I was shocked to say the least when I was recently told by a colleague that the criteria set by the government for awarding the Netbooks has not been adhered to by those who have been given the responsibility to distribute them.  Three specific cases still haunt me to this very day even though the incident actually happened in the middle of last year.  I really wanted to write about it then, but I decided to let things cool down a little bit.

Road Hog

It was a hot and sweaty day and the time being mid-day, there was a lot of traffic on the road.  I can understand Malaysian drivers' feelings when we have to undergo these conditions when driving because these are the things that put us on the edge.

However, there is one additional situation that tends to stretch the limits of our patience and that is when people cut queue or lanes.  Take for example today when I was driving to Tesco (how I miss going to Huddersfield's branch in the UK! Sigh!) in Seremban and the traffic light had just turn red.  I was going to turn right and I was behind another car.  All of a sudden came this green SUV from my left!  The driver who was on a go-straight lane, cut across the double line (which meant no over-taking!)  and swerved almost to the front of the car ahead of me!

Every Little Help Counts

I have read in personal amusement in the papers lately about the many dissatisfaction expressed by some parents across the nation about the RM100 which was given to all school going children before the long holidays last year.  I say amused because even after being told countless number of times through the electronic and printed media that that sum of money was merely to help out with their children's school expenditures, these parents still expressed their grouses.

After Two Years.....

Can't believe that I have been too busy to write that I have actually left this blog untouched for two long years.  A lot of thing...
